Newly Appointed Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Assumes Duties

Major General C.D. Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc ceremonially assumed duties as the 25th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 04 April 2026 at the Regimental Centre, Panagoda, in accordance with military customs and traditions.

Upon arrival, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly received by the Centre Commandant, Colonel N.K.B.S. Jayasekara, at the main entrance and was honoured with a Guard Turnout. In a solemn gesture of remembrance, he laid a wreath at the monument in tribute to the fallen war heroes of the Corps. This was followed by a vibrant Guard of Honour at the parade ground.

The formal assumption of duties took place during a dignified ceremony marked by religious observances, where the Colonel Commandant placed his signature on official documents, symbolising the commencement of his new responsibilities.

Following the formalities, a group photograph was taken with the Regimental Staff, Senior Officers and Officers to commemorate this significant milestone in the history of the Corps. The event continued with an All Ranks tea party, arranged to foster camaraderie and fellowship among officers and soldiers.

The day’s proceedings culminated with a troop address, where he shared his vision for the future of the Corps.
