Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced voucher donation programme held on 10 April 2026 at the Army Headquarters to assist the Army personnel affected by the recent ‘Ditwah’ cyclone.The initiative, conceptualised by the Army Chief and organised under the supervision of Brigadier R.M.C. Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndc, Director Welfare, aimed to provide financial relief to affected soldiers.
A total of 1,933 Army personnel were selected to receive assistance valued at over Rs. 26 million. The programme was conducted with the generous support of the Sri Lanka Army, CIB and Lanka Sathosa Limited, coordinated by the Directorate of Welfare.
During the ceremony, the Commander of the Army, together with Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, symbolically distributed vouchers to 50 selected beneficiaries, each valued at Rs. 15,000.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and the beneficiaries were also present at the ceremony.
