Newly Appointed Commander, Security Forces (West) Assumes Duties

Major General K.T.P. De Silva RSP ndu psc, assumed duties as the 19th Commander of Security Forces (West) at the SFHQ (West) Headquarters premises on 04 April 2026.

Upon his arrival, he was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps. Thereafter, he symbolically marked the assumption of duties by signing an official document at the office premises.

Adding significance to the occasion, the Commander planted a sapling in the premises and later joined Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks for a group photograph. The formalities concluded with an All-Ranks tea.

Addressing the gathering, the Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining strong personal connections among troops, highlighting the value of mutual support over virtual associations. He further elaborated on the role of the Sri Lanka Army in supporting national initiatives such as Clean Sri Lanka and ‘Ratama Ekata’ projects. Sharing his vision, he encouraged all ranks to work collectively towards achieving common objectives.
