The Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) commemorated its 28th Anniversary on 18 March 2026 under the guidance of Major General K.M.P.S.B. Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni).
Upon arrival, the Commander was accorded a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour by the troops of the 7th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps. He then posed for a group photograph and planted a sapling in the headquarters premises.
Addressing the troops, the Commander appreciated the commitment and dedication given by all ranks. The day’s proceedings also included an all ranks lunch.
In line with the anniversary celebrations, multi-religious observances were conducted, including ceremonies at the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, followed by religious programmes at St. Anthony’s Church, Kandasamy Kovil, and the Jummah Mosque in Vavuniya. A Seth Pirith chanting ceremony was also conducted within the camp premises, invoking blessings for the well-being of all ranks. A musical evening added colour to the occasion.
