In line with the concept of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, to support the higher education of children of Army and civilian personnel serving in the Army through enhanced access to digital learning resources, a laptop donation ceremony was held on 13 March 2026 at the Army Headquarters. Army Chief graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
During the ceremony, the Commander of the Army, together with Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Adjutant General of the Army, symbolically distributed laptops to 79 selected students, each valued at Rs. 212,000.00.
The event was conducted by the Directorate of Welfare under the guidance of Brigadier R.M.C. Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndc, the Director Welfare. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and the beneficiary students were also present at the ceremony.
