12th Contingent of SRIMED Level-2 Hospital Departs for UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan

The 12th contingent of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) departed the country to serve at the Level-2 SRIMED Hospital under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on 13 March 2026.

The contingent is commanded by Colonel D.R.S.A. Jayamanna RSP USP of the SLAMC and Major H.P.D. Galgodella USP serves as the Second-in-Command. The contingent comprises 63 personnel, including 13 Army Officers and 50 Other Ranks. Their deployment continues Sri Lanka’s commitment to international peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance.

Prior to their departure, the contingent presented a ceremonial salute to Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, at the SLAMC Regimental Headquarters Ground in Werahera on 10 February 2026.

Major General P.S. Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel Commandant of SLAMC, Major General S.P. Wickramasekara RWP RSP USP psc, Director General of Overseas Operations, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and family members, were also present at the airport to bid farewell to the contingent, offering their support and encouragement for the mission ahead.
