Sri Lanka Army Shares Insights on Resilient and AI-Enabled Logistics for KDU Logistics Day 2026

In parallel with the forthcoming Logistics Day 2026, organized by the Department of Management and Finance of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, an interview with the senior logistics leadership of the Sri Lanka Army was conducted for publication in the Logistics Time Magazine on 12 March 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Quartermaster General’s (QMG) Branch.

The interview was chaired by Major General W.M.S.N. Wijekoon ndc AATO, the Quartermaster General of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC).

Several senior logistics officers also joined the discussion, including the Director Maintenance & Management at Army Headquarters and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services, the Chief Instructor of the Army School of Logistics, the Colonel QMG, the Colonel AQ of 61 Infantry Division, and the Staff Officer 1 of the Regimental Headquarters of SLAOC.

During the discussion, the officers shared professional insights with the students on the theme “Resilient Intelligence: AI-Enabled Sustainable Supply Chain”. The QMG emphasized that civilians who enlist in the Army are developed into capable logisticians through structured training, practical experience, and technologically integrated logistics systems.

The conversation focused on building resilience in logistics systems within the logistics units of the Sri Lanka Army, alongside the growing application of Artificial Intelligence in supply chain management related to engineering, repair and maintenance, medical facilities, rationing, transportation and ordnance services for sustainability in military logistics, as well as emerging technological challenges affecting modern supply networks.
