Troops Under 55 Infantry Division Donate Dry Ration Packs to Pregnant Mothers in Kilinochchi

A community welfare programme to distribute dry ration packs among 22 pregnant mothers residing in the Kilinochchi area was successfully conducted under the direction of Major General H.M.G.E. Herath RSP USP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division and the supervision of Brigadier T.B.M.R. Kandekumbura RSP USP, Commander of the 551 Infantry Brigade.

The initiative was organised by Lieutenant Colonel G.A.M.N.A. Samarakoon RWP RSP USP psc, the Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks of the Battalion.

The programme aimed at supporting the nutritional and essential needs of expecting mothers in the area.Furthermore, a medical clinic for pregnant mothers was conducted on 20 February 2026 at the lecture hall of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

The clinic was conducted by Dr. S. Kajendra, together with the staff of the Kilinochchi Medical Officer of Health Office, providing necessary medical consultations and guidance to the beneficiaries.
