Army Troops Conduct Blood Donation Programme in Line with 78th Independence Day

Celebrations In parallel with the 78th Independence Day celebrations, the 521 Infantry Brigade organised a blood donation programme on 06 February 2026 with the objective of supporting the urgent blood requirement of the Point Pedro Base Hospital.The programme was conducted at the request of the Blood Bank of the Point Pedro Base Hospital under the instructions of the 52 Infantry Division.

The initiative was supervised by the Commander, 521 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, in close coordination with Vadamarachchi North Divisional Secretariat – Point Pedro.

The blood donation campaign was held at the premises of Vadamarachchi North Divisional Secretariat, Point Pedro. 113 Officers and Other Ranks from Infantry Brigades and Battalions under the 52 Infantry Division, 11 Officers from the Point Pedro Police Station, representatives of 13 government institutions and civilians in the area voluntarily contributed in response to the urgent need for blood to facilitate emergency medical treatments, surgical procedures and general transfusion requirements at the Point Pedro Base Hospital.
