Following the severe impact of Cyclone Ditwath, which caused widespread flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage across Sri Lanka, the 6 Field Engineer Regiment, under the guidance of the Commander of the Army and supervision of the Chief Field Engineer, along with the Indian Army 19 Engineer Regiment restored essential road networks.

The teams coordinated the construction of the Belihuloya Bridge from 31 December 2025 to 5 January 2026 and Kohombagana Bridge from 9 to 21 January 2026, completing both projects with the combined efforts of Sri Lankan and Indian troops and handing them over for public use, enhancing disaster recovery and regional cooperation.
