Jaffna Troops Bid Farewell to Outgoing Commander Security Forces (Jaffna)

The troops of Security Forces (Jaffna) arranged a formal farewell ceremony for Major General K.A.N. Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the outgoing Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), at the Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) in Palaly on 14 January 2026 prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing over 35 years of distinguished service.

In accordance with military traditions, a guard turnout was accorded to the outgoing commander at the entrance, followed by a guard of honour presented by the troops of the 5th Engineer Service Regiment.

Adding memories to the day, the outgoing Commander was invited to pose for a group photograph with Officers. Thereafter, he addressed the troops and expressed his sincere appreciation to all ranks serving in respective formations for their commitment, professionalism and dedicated service in maintaining a peaceful environment while promoting civil–military coordination in the Jaffna Peninsula.

Towards the conclusion of the day’s farewell programme, mementos were presented to the outgoing Commander by the under-command Infantry Divisions, Logistic Command and Headquarters Security Forces (Jaffna). The formalities concluded with an All-Ranks tea, providing an opportunity for him to interact with all ranks. Subsequently, the outgoing Commander placed his signature in the visitors’ book.
