A rock-filled earth mound collapsed in Ganeetanna, Mawanella, on 22 November 2025, causing severe damage to a building consisting of a house and a shop, and trapping several individuals.
More than forty-five troops from the 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, operating under the 611 Infantry Brigade of the 57 Infantry Division, together with the Disaster Management Centre – Kegalle, swiftly engaged in the rescue operation. Several individuals were safely rescued and admitted to the Mawanella Base Hospital for medical treatment.
