Major General S.A.U.A. Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc assumed duties as the 31st General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division during a ceremony held at the Division on 10 November 2025.
Upon arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial guard turnout and guard of honour. Religious observances were conducted to invoke blessings on his new appointment.
In his address, he outlined his vision for the division, emphasising professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty. The formalities concluded with an all-ranks tea, followed by a briefing on the division’s operational responsibilities and the current situation in its area of responsibility.
