The Gajaba Regiment (GR) held a felicitation ceremony on 03 November 2025 at the “Home of Gajaba” to honour Infantryman R.W.V. Piyathissa, who achieved a Serandib World Record in line with 76th Army Anniversary.
Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Colonel of the Regiment of GR commended Infantryman R.W.V. Piyathissa’s remarkable courage, endurance and determination as a visually impaired veteran. A special video presentation highlighted his inspiring journey and accomplishments.
As a token of appreciation, the Colonel of the Regiment presented valuable gifts and a commemorative memento to Infantryman R.W.V. Piyathissa, while his family also received tokens of gratitude.
