Major General M.W.S. Millagala RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc officially assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 59 Infantry Division on 21 October 2025 at the 59 Infantry Division.
Upon his arrival, the newly appointed GOC was accorded a guard turnout and a guard of honour presented by the troops of the 10th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (10 SLSR) and the 5 SLSR.
Following the assumption of duties, he addressed all ranks, expressing his expectations and extending appreciation for their continued commitment. Subsequently, he held a separate discussion with the officers, outlining his vision and priorities for the division.
