A sudden fire broke out at the Laxapana Tea Factory in the Nallathanniya area on 09 October 2025.
Following the instructions of the 642 Infantry Brigade, troops from the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 3 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment promptly reported to the scene and initiated firefighting efforts.
A fire truck and a firefighting team from the Hatton Urban Council later joined the operation. Through the combined efforts of Army personnel, factory workers and the firefighting team, the blaze was successfully brought under control.
