In parallel with the 76th Army Anniversary, a dignified ceremony was held on 08 October 2025 at the Battaramulla War Heroes’ Monument to honour the immense sacrifices of fallen War Heroes.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
Soon after the Army Chief’s arrival at the location, the recital of the National Anthem and the Army Song set the tone for the vigil, followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in honour of the fallen patriots.
The day's Chief Guest, together with several Senior Army Officers, proceeded to the War Heroes’ Monument, where they laid floral wreaths and saluted the War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
Subsequently, in line with military tradition, the ‘Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’ resonated through the premises, honouring the eternal memory of the fallen, bringing the formal ceremony to a close.
Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, Security Force Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks, were present to pay tribute to the fallen War Heroes.
