On the occasion of the forthcoming 76th Army Anniversary Day, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, visited the ‘Abhimansala – 1’ wellness resort in Anuradhapura on 26 September 2025 to inquire about the wellbeing of War Heroes undergoing rehabilitation.
Upon arrival, the Army Chief was welcomed by the inmates, along with Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Director of Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, and Brigadier B.A.P Liyanage RWP RSP USP, Commandant of ‘Abhimansala – 1’.
Subsequently, the Army Chief and other distinguished guests joined the injured War Heroes for lunch. Thereafter, he presented gift parcels to the inmates and caretakers.
The day’s proceedings concluded with presentation of a memento to the Commander by the Commandant of ‘Abhimansala – 1’. Later, the Army Chief signed the visitors’ book followed by group photograph.
Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, Security Forces Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the visit.
