The troops of the 12 Infantry Division bade farewell to the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division, Major General H.T.W. Vidyananda RWP RSP USP, on 12 September 2025 at the Division Headquarters.
In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded by the troops of the 12 Battalion Gajaba Regiment. Adding memories to the day, the outgoing GOC posed for a group photograph with the officers of the Division and planted a sapling.
Thereafter, the outgoing GOC inaugurated the newly constructed lecture hall of the 12 Infantry Division Headquarters. In his address to all ranks, he appreciated their commitment and dedication during his tenure.
The formalities for the day concluded with an All-Ranks tea, providing an opportunity for the outgoing GOC to interact with all ranks. Major General W.M.N.K.D. Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc will assume the office as the GOC of the 12 Infantry Division in due course.
