A special wheelchair donation programme was held at Mihindu Seth Madura on 13 September 2025, conducted by the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation in collaboration with the Late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa Foundation.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, together with Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, and Mrs. Lali Kobbekaduwa, spouse of the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and founder of the Foundation.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp and a moment of remembrance for fallen war heroes. A vibrant welcome dance by the Army Dancing Team followed, after which the Director of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation delivered the welcome address. Inmates of Mihindu Seth Madura thereafter presented a special singing performance.
A total of 56 wheelchairs were officially donated during the ceremony, symbolising deep gratitude and continued care for veterans. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by an inmate, a group photograph and refreshments.
