Army Chief Attends Certificate Awarding Ceremony of Art and Literature Competition

The Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation organised a certificate awarding ceremony of the Art and Literature Competition on 04 September 2025 at Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, along with Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) graced the event as the Chief Guest.

This awarding ceremony was conducted as part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” project, which includes an Art and Literature Competition for wellness resort inmates, war veterans, their families, and children of fallen heroes. The initiative, conducted by the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation, aims to identify talents, nurture artistic growth, and inspire confidence among participants while enriching their lives.

The formal proceedings began with a welcome speech delivered by Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Director of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation.

Medals and certificates were then awarded to 47 winners by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests. The ceremony also featured traditional dancing items that added colour and vibrancy to the occasion.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by tea reception. Members of ASVU, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and families of War Heroes participated in the event.
