The Directorate of Welfare of the Sri Lanka Army conducted a special donation programme on 12 August 2025 to provide laptops to Government university students who are children of serving Army personnel. The initiative targeted first-year undergraduates who gained university admission following their successful completion of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination - 2023.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by Major General G.C.V. Fernando ndc, Director General Welfare, together with other Senior Officers.
During the ceremony, the Commander of the Army, together with Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, distributed a total of 57 laptops (HP Core i5 – 14th Gen) to the students.
This welfare initiative aims to support the academic aspirations of the children of serving members by providing them with essential technological resources to excel in their studies.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and parents of the beneficiaries were present at the event.
