Major General K.H.M.S Wickramarathna RSP assumed office as the 8th Commander of 1 Corps on 09 August 2025 during a ceremony at the Headquarters, 1 Corps, Kilinochchi.
The day began with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Guard of Honour presented by the 3rd Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment.
Amidst religious observances and ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting, the new Commander formally assumed duties by signing the official document at the auspicious time. He later planted a sapling, posed for group photographs with all ranks and addressed the troops outlining duties and responsibilities.
The day concluded with an all-ranks tea. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
