SLAVF Bids Farewell to Deputy Commandant

The troops of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to the Deputy Commandant of SLAVF, Major General B.M.R.J Bandara, prior to his retirement from the Army, on 30 July 2025 at the SLAVF premises.

In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded upon his arrival, and he was warmly welcomed by Senior Officers. Afterwards, he paid tribute to the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV by laying a floral wreath.

Later on, he unveiled his portrait and added memories to the day by posing for a group photograph with the staff. In his address to all Ranks, the Deputy Commandant expressed appreciation for the commitment and dedication given by all ranks during his tenure.

The formalities for the day concluded with an All-Ranks tea, providing an opportunity for the outgoing Deputy Commandant to interact with all Ranks. Subsequently, he penned his thoughts and good wishes in the Visitor’s Book.

The day’s formalities culminated with a farewell dinner. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s formalities.
