The 40th National Rowing Championship took place on 23, 24, 25, and 26 July 2025 at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre, organised by the National Association of Rowing.
Marking a historic milestone in the annals of national rowing, the Sri Lanka Army emerged victorious by winning all 10 Gold Medals in the Open Category and secured the overall championship titles in both the Men’s and Women’s categories.
The Sri Lanka Army Men's Team secured 05 Gold Medals and 01 Silver Medal, while the Women’s Team won 05 Gold Medals.
The competitors participated in the competition under the guidance of Major General W.M.N.D.K Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Chairman of the Army Rowing Committee.
The success of the Army Rowing Team was further driven by the dedication and expertise of the team’s Coach, Major A.M.M.M. Alagiyawanna of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, along with his committed team of instructors, who played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for this landmark performance.
