Commander of the Army Graces Opening Ceremony of M2C Empowerment Initiative

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, graced the opening ceremony of the ‘Military to Civil (M2C)’ preparation and empowerment programme for Senior Officers, held at Army Headquarters on 14 July 2025. The event was coordinated by the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitations.

This initiative aims to proactively support Senior Officers in preparing for life beyond the uniform. In order to enable more officers to pursue a successful post-retirement journey, a structured Post-Retirement Empowerment Programme has been proposed. It includes pre-retirement planning, financial management training, emotional resilience building, exposure to alternative career options, and motivational success stories from both military and civilian spheres.

This two-day programme has been specifically designed for Senior Officers in the rank of Colonel and above, who are scheduled to retire or leave the service between July 2025 and July 2026, with the intention of preparing them well in advance for the transition from military to civilian life (M2C).
