A felicitation ceremony was held to honour Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, upon his appointment as the 47th Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army, at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental Centre on 04 July 2025.
The newly appointed DCOS was respectfully welcomed at the main entrance of the Regimental Centre by the Centre Commandant. In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were accorded to the Deputy Chief of Staff.
Then, the DCOS paid floral tribute at the SLLI War Heroes’ Monument in remembrance of the fallen War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland. Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with all Officers.
During his address to the troops, he outlined his vision and objectives, while offering his respects to all fallen, wounded, and serving Officers and Other Ranks for their contribution towards establishing lasting peace in the country.
Finally, the Deputy Chief of Staff participated in an All-Ranks tea held at the Other Ranks’ Mess.
