Sri Lanka Army Continues Medical Camp for Disabled Veterans

The Directorate of Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation in collaboration with 306 c Sinha Club organised a medical camp for disabled and serving military personnel on 27 June 2025 at Army Base Hospital, Kandy. The initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of Army veterans residing in the Central Province.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, together with Mrs Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), graced the occasion as distinguished guests. Upon arrival, the Army Chief was warmly welcomed by the Director Veterans Affairs and other Senior Officers.

During the visit, 27 wheelchairs and 240 pairs of crutches were symbolically distributed by the Commander and the ASVU President.

The event catered to over 2,500 beneficiaries including disabled soldiers, retired personnel, inmates, and the family members of war heroes currently facing medical challenges. The medical camp included medical consultations, prosthetic maintenance, dermatology and dental clinics, mental health counselling and nutritional guidance.

Prior to attending the medical camp, the Commander of the Army paid a courtesy call on the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter the Most Venerable Warakagoda Dhammasiddhi Sri Pagghananda Gnanarathanabidhana Mahanayake Thero, receiving blessings.
