Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army (the third most senior appointment in the Army) on 26 June 2025 at the Army Headquarters.
Invoking blessings for his new duties, the formal event took place at the Deputy Chief of Staff's office and included the signing of official documents and the performance of religious rites.
Having held important positions in the past, he offers a wealth of expertise and strategic acumen to the position such as the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna & Central), Deputy Commander Security Forces(West) and the General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division. His leadership in these roles has demonstrated his operational acumen and professional excellence.
The occasion was attended by Principal Staff Officers, Directors, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks, who gathered to extend their best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.
