A welfare programme was conducted with the aim of ensuring the well-being of serving personnel, retired members and the families of fallen war heroes, while addressing their needs and concerns.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Upon his arrival, the Commander of the Army was accorded a drive pass and warmly welcomed by the Colonel of the Regiment, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR).
Following military formalities, the Commander addressed the troops, emphasising the Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of its serving, retired personnel and the families of the fallen war heroes. Afterwards, the Commander ceremonially handed over the keys of a vehicle to Abimansala 3, which had earlier been presented to the Army by the Presidential Secretariat.
Thereafter, the Commander of the Army engaged in cordial interactions with the participants who were present at the venue.
The programme provided an opportunity for retired Officers and Other Ranks to directly voice their concerns and discuss matters of importance. Representatives from relevant Directorates and Branches extended their cooperation to offer viable solutions to the issues raised.
