In a significant community service, a blood donation programme was successfully conducted at Maradankeni Hospital on 15.06.2025. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, under the supervision of Major General M.N Fernando RSP, General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division and Colonel J.A.C Karunathilaka RSP USP, Commander, 522 Infantry Brigade.
This initiative was organized in response to the critical shortage of blood supplies in hospitals across the Northern Province.
The event was organized by Major R.M.T.S Alahakoon Overlooking Commanding Officer of the 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, who played a pivotal role in mobilizing resources and participants for the program. Forty-four soldiers, five civilians and 03 Policeman were volunteered to donated blood, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the local community, addressing the urgent need for blood donations.
The initiative received valuable advice and support from the Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna, highlighting the collaborative efforts between military personnel and providers to enhance the well-being of the local population. The blood donation programme not only aimed to replenish the hospital's blood bank but also raised awareness about the importance of regular blood donations in saving lives.
