To mark Poson Poya on 10 June 2025, troops of the 21 Infantry Division and Logistics Command (Wanni) conducted a series of religious and community-support activities in Anuradhapura under the guidance of Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulathunga RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni).
The initiatives included cleaning campaigns at key sacred sites, such as the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Abhayagiriya, Lankaramaya, Thuparamaya Stupas and Mihintale temple. Sanitary facilities, temporary medical aid stations, parabolic huts were established to facilitate the pilgrims.
A special rice dansala was organized at the Sandahiru Stupa premises in collaboration with the Sandahiru Stupa Administration Office under the Ministry of Defence, and Logistics Command (Wanni). The event was graced by Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV, RWP and two Bars, RSP and Bar, USP, MMSc (Strat Stu - China), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (China), psc, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence as the Chief Guest.
The troops of 54 Infantry Division, along with its under command Brigades and Units, conducted the Mannar Poson Zone 2025 from 10 to 12 June 2025 near Thaleadi Junction, under the supervision of Major General A.M.C.P Wijayaratne RWP RSP nps psc, General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division.
The Poson Zone included an array of spiritual and cultural displays, including Poson lanterns, a detailed replica of Mihintale, a thorana (pandal), singing devotional songs and a rice dansela, attracting a large number of devotees.
Similarly, the 21 Infantry Division organised a Kos Dansala on 10 June 2025 at the 21 Infantry Division premises, under the guidance of Major General W.W.M.P.W.W.B.R. Palamakumbura RWP RSP, the General Officer Commanding of 21 Infantry Division.
