Army Chief Praises Retiring Major General’s Notable Service

Major General T.C Peiris RSP USP was invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 26 May 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing a distinguished career spanning 34 years.

Brief profile of the retiring Senior Officer:

Major General T.C. Peiris RSP USP enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 03 November 1990. Upon successful completion of military training at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, Ratmalana and the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 14 November 1992. After being steadily elevated to subsequent ranks during his service in the Army, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 31 March 2024.

The Senior Officer will retire from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 30 May 2025 upon reaching 55 years of age. At the time of his retirement, he held the appointment of Chief Field Engineer at Army Headquarters.

The Senior Officer has been awarded the Rana Sura Padakkama and the Utthama Seva Padakkama in appreciation of his dedicated service rendered during his tenure in the Sri Lanka Army.

He completed numerous local and foreign military courses throughout his career. These include Field Engineer Class 1 Course, Unit Accounts Officers Course, Unit Administration Course, United Nations Peacekeeping Pre-deployment Training Course, United Nations Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CIMIC) Officers Course, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Response (Level II) Course.

In addition, the Senior Officer has followed overseas courses including the Engineer Officers Basic Course in Bangladesh and the Combined Officers Bomb Disposal Course in India.

The Senior Officer has obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Moratuwa.

He has also participated in several international training programmes, such as the United Nations Protection of Citizens Training of Trainers Programme in Indonesia in 2016, the Training Programme on Mainstreaming Gender into Community-Based Disaster Risk Management in Kenya in 2016 and the Advanced Training Programme for Talents from Maritime Silk Road Countries in China in 2018.
