Troops of the 212 Infantry Brigade and the 2nd Engineer Services Regiment swiftly responded to a sudden wildfire that broke out in the Viharapalugama Forest Reserve, Pandulagama, Anuradhapura, on 06 July 2025.
Army personnel were promptly deployed to contain the fast-spreading blaze, navigating challenging terrain, dense jungle and the threat posed by agitated wild elephants. Despite these hazards, they successfully brought the fire under control after nearly four hours, thereby preventing further environmental damage.
