Responding swiftly to an emergency situation, troops of the 2 (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (2(V) SLSR) successfully located and began the rescue of stranded individuals in the Hanthana mountain range during the early hours of 29 June 2025.
Acting on instructions issued by the 111 Infantry Brigade, a rescue team was promptly deployed to the area.
After navigating through challenging terrain and dense forest cover, the troops successfully located the stranded persons around 2:40 a.m. and immediately began the process of safely escorting them out of the jungle.
