Troops Rescue Elderly Man Attempting Suicide from Mahanama Bridge, Matara

A 94-year-old man attempted to suicide by jumping from the Mahanama Bridge in Matara on 10 July 2025. Responding swiftly, troops of the 3rd Gemunu Watch rescued the individual and promptly admitted him to Matara General Hospital for medical attention.

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Matara Police Station.
