Troops of the 561 Infantry Brigade promptly responded to a sudden flash flood that affected Nedunkerny Hospital within the Brigade area on 03 April 2026, following heavy rainfall in the area.
A relief team from the 16th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was immediately deployed to manage the situation.Working in close coordination with hospital authorities, the troops carried out immediate flood response measures, including clearing waterlogged areas, placing sandbags, cleaning affected premises and assisting hospital staff in restoring normal operations.
Their swift and effective response minimised disruption to hospital services and ensured the safety of medical staff, patients and property.
