Sri Lanka Army Troops Join Global Efforts on World Cleanup Day 2025

Sri Lanka Army troops enthusiastically joined hands with the global observance of 'World Cleanup Day 2025' on 20 September 2025, aligning their efforts with this year’s theme of tackling textile and fashion waste. The worldwide initiative aims to encourage responsible consumption and strengthen waste management systems in response to the escalating crisis of textile pollution.

Under the guidance of the Commander of the Army and in line with the 'Clean Sri Lanka Initiative', Army personnel across the island launched a series of cleaning campaigns both inside and outside camp premises. The programme was conducted as a nationwide effort, demonstrating the Army’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community welfare.

Troops primarily focused their efforts on cleaning areas that accumulate garbage on a daily basis, ensuring the proper disposal and management of waste.

By extending their efforts beyond military installations to surrounding public spaces, the Army troops contributed to building a cleaner and healthier environment for local communities.
