Sri Lanka Army Supports Devotees on Annual Paada Yaathra Pilgrimage

At the direction of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, Sri Lanka Army troops have extended their support to devotees undertaking the annual Paada Yaathra pilgrimage from Okada to Katharagama from 20 June 2025 to 04 July 2025. This initiative was carried out under the supervision of the Commander, Security Forces (Central) along with the leadership of the General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division and Brigade Commander of 122 Infantry Brigade.

Army personnel are providing critical assistance along the segment from the entrance of Kumana National Park to Katagamuwa. Security lanes have been established to ensure safe passage for pilgrims. Medical camps have been set up at Warahana and Katagamuwa, treating over 3,500 individuals daily.

A main dansela is also being conducted also conducted by Army troops at Katagamuwa, offering meals and refreshments to thousands of devotees. Additionally, special transport has been arranged for injured pilgrims, while providing clean drinking water, meals and other essential services throughout the route.
