The Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Chess Championship 2025, organised by the Army Chess Committee, was held at the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps from 22 to 26 September 2025. A total of 135 male and female players representing 14 regiments took part in the event.
Major General A.M.R. Abeysinghe ndc, the Provost Marshal and Chairman of the Army Chess Committee, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The tournament included Standard, Blitz and Team events for both Open and Women’s categories. The Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers emerged as the Overall Champions with 245 points, while the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps secured the runner-up position with 200 points. The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and Corps of Engineer Services shared third place, each scoring 105 points.

• Open Standard Event: Lieutenant R.D.A.M. Suraweera (Corps of Engineer Services)
• Women’s Standard Event: Lance Corporal I.N.D. Dasanayaka (Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police)
• Blitz Open Event: Lance Corporal D.N.S. De Silva (Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps)
• Blitz Women’s Event: Corporal W.G.H.S. Ariyarathna (Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police)
• Open Teams Event: Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps
• Women’s Teams Event: Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police
