SLAVF Bids Farewell to the Outgoing Commandant of SLAVF

Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, concluded his tenure as the 61st Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 2 April 2026.

Upon arrival, he was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. He then paid tribute to the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya by laying a floral wreath in honour of him and all fallen war heroes.

Subsequently, he formally handed over his duties and unveiled his portrait at the office of the Commandant. Adding memories to the day, the outgoing Commandant was invited to pose for a group photograph.

During the programme, he inaugurated several key facilities, including the Panoramic View, the newly constructed Commandant’s Chalet and the Greenview Cafeteria. He also visited the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess.

In his address to all ranks, he emphasised that real change begins within, encouraging soldiers to uphold strong values while maintaining a balance between duty and personal wellbeing. He expressed gratitude to the President of Sri Lanka and the Commander of the Army for their continued guidance and support, and wished all ranks strength and success in their future endeavours.
