Newly-Promoted Major Generals Receive Symbols of Authority

A group of recently-promoted eight Major Generals of the Army today (22) during a formal courtesy call, received their symbols of authority and greetings from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at the Commander’s Office.

Major General SA Kulathunga RWP RSP USP psc of Sri Lanka Engineers, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Major General GMN Perera RWP RSP USP of Sri Lanka Light Infantry on NDC Course (Sri Lanka), Major General WTWG Ihalage RWP RSP psc of Special Forces, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, Major General GKI Vithanachchi ato of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Director General, Directorate of Ordnance Services, Major General HGPM Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG of Sri Lanka Artillery, Director General, Directorate of Staff Duties, Major General JPC Peiris RWP RSP ndc of Special Forces, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP of Special Forces, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division and Major General SWB Welagedara RSP USP of Gemunu Watch on NDC Course (Sri Lanka) were present at the Commander’s meet. However, one more member in the group, Major General RMM Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP of Special Forces, attached to the Presidential Security Division due to service commitments could not attend the occasion.

The Army Chief extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to those new rankers who have sweated for more than three decades for the betterment of the organization.

After cordial interactions, the Commander of the Army awarded each of them the replica of sword to signify their new authority as two-star Generals. Those Officers thanking the Commander of the Army for his warm wishes added memories to the occasion by posing for several photos.
