The National Judo Championship – 2025 Concludes

62nd National Judo Championship – 2025 was held from 30 January to 01 February 2026 at the Indoor Stadium of the Department of Sports Development, Torrington.

Approximately 400 players representing 65 sports clubs across the island competed in 17 individual weight classes, one team event and 21 weight categories for both men and women, including the open category.

The Overall Men’s Championship was secured by the Sri Lanka Air Force, winning six Gold Medals, three Silver Medals and three Bronze Medals, while the Sri Lanka Army claimed the Men’s Runners-up position.

The Overall Women’s Championship was won by the Sri Lanka Army with five Gold Medals, three Silver Medals and eight Bronze Medals. The Women’s Runners-up title was secured by the Sri Lanka Air Force. In the Open Women’s category, the Sri Lanka Army dominated the event by securing the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, marking a significant highlight and a proud achievement.

The Best Female Player of the Championship was awarded to Corporal W.L.A.H. Imesha of the Sri Lanka Army, while the Best Thrower of the Championship was awarded to Lance Corporal H.G.S.L.M. Hathurusinghe.

Major General W.M.S.N. Wijekoon ndc AATO, Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and President of the Sri Lanka Army Judo Committee, participated in the event.
