Based on information received by the Military Intelligence Corps, a joint raid was conducted in collaboration with the Weligama Police on 24 February 2026 in the Welipitiya Divisional Secretariat area of the Matara District.
During the operation, 136 kilograms of wallapatta (Gyrinops walla) and equipment used for extracting wallapatta oil were seized, and a suspect was taken into custody. Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Weligama Police.
