Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Course No 31 (Officers) Concludes at IPSOTSL

The Directorate of Legal Services, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, successfully conducted the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Course No 31 (Officers) from 24 November 2025 to 23 December 2025 at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL).

A total of 27 officers from the Tri-Forces, comprising 19 officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 5 officers from the Sri Lanka Navy and 3 officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force, successfully completed the course. The aim of the course was to enhance professional knowledge and develop a comprehensive understanding of the concepts of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law among members of the armed forces. Lectures were delivered by academics from the University of Colombo, the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Officer Instructors of the Sri Lanka Army and Air Force, Senior Officers of the Police Department and the Armed and Security Programme Advisor of the ICRC, Mr. Channa Jayawardhane, who graciously dedicated their time and expertise to the course.

Major General K.T.P. de Silva RSP ndu psc, Adjutant General, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the closing remarks at the certificate awarding ceremony. The Director of the Directorate of Legal Services, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the Commandant of IPSOTSL, senior officers, officers and other ranks were present at the event.
