The Gajaba Regiment celebrated its 42nd Anniversary on 14 October 2025 at the Gajaba Regimental Centre with a series of religious and ceremonial events.
The celebrations commenced with a multi-religious flag blessing ceremony on 3 October 2025, followed by an all-night pirith chanting ceremony on 12 October 2025 and an almsgiving for members of the Maha Sanga. On 13 October 2025, Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Colonel of the Regiment, laid a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument in honour of fallen War Heroes. In addition, 62 parents, siblings and spouses of fallen War Heroes also paid their respects during the ceremony.
On the Anniversary Day, the Colonel of the Regiment was accorded a Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions. He then paid tribute to the “Founder Father” of the Regiment, late Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne, by laying a floral wreath at his statue. Afterwards, the Colonel of the Regiment reviewed the ceremonial parade. A sapling was planted to mark the occasion, followed by a group photograph.
The day’s formalities concluded with an all-ranks lunch. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
