In preparation for the forthcoming 76th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, scheduled to be celebrated on 10 October 2025, a special religious ceremony was held at the sacred Kataragama Kirivehera and Devala premises on 29 September 2025, with the participation of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army.
Ven. Kobawaka Damminda Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Kirivehera, conducted the Buddhist religious observances. A special Pooja was subsequently held at the Mahasen Devalaya before flag-bearers, in colourful attire, formed another procession to the Kataragama Devalaya for further religious observances.
Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, the Commander Security Forces (Cen), Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the ceremony.
