A programme to distribute 200 dry ration packs and 100 school bags to school children of 200 selected needy families was conducted by the 22 Infantry Division, on 19 January 2026 at Arfath Muslim School, Pulmoddai.
The initiative was conducted to provide relief to civilians affected by the adverse weather conditions that impacted the island. The programme was made possible through the coordination of Major General A.P.I. Fernando RWP USP (Retd) and the generous financial contributions of Dr. Yamani Gunawardhana, who resides in the United States of America, along with family members.
