Army troops conducted a school equipment distribution programme for the 2026 New School Year on 03 January 2026.
The initiative was made possible through the generous financial sponsorship of Hatton National Bank (HNB). During the programme, school equipment sets valued at approximately two million rupees were distributed.
A total of 496 students from five schools located in the Lunugamwehera Divisional Secretariat Division benefited from the programme. In addition, school equipment was also distributed among the children of civilian staff members serving at the 122 Infantry Brigade.
Major General M.P.K.L. Amarasinghe WWV RWP RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division, the Senior Vice President of Hatton National Bank, Mr. Manojith Weerasuriya, senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event.
