The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, undertook an official visit to the Army Ordnance Industries (AOI) on 25 August 2025.
Upon arrival, the Senior Officer was accorded a drive-pass salute and warmly welcomed by the Commandant, AOI. To commemorate this significant occasion, DCOS ceremonially planted a sapling within the AOI premises, symbolising growth and sustainability, followed by a group photograph with the officers and staff.
The day’s programme commenced with a comprehensive briefing delivered by the Commandant AOI, highlighting the organisation’s technical capabilities, ongoing developmental initiatives, and notable achievements in enhancing the Army’s operational readiness.
Subsequently, the Deputy Chief of Staff undertook an inspection tour of the production facilities, where he observed first-hand the manufacturing processes, quality standards and ongoing projects that reflect AOI’s commitment to self-reliance and innovation.
Concluding his visit, DCOS addressed All Ranks of AOI, emphasising the critical importance of continuous training, skill enhancement, and professional development in meeting evolving security challenges. He lauded the unwavering dedication, technical expertise and invaluable contributions of AOI personnel towards strengthening the operational capabilities of the Sri Lanka Army.
Before his departure, the Deputy Chief of Staff graciously penned his remarks and best wishes in the AOI Visitors’ Book, marking the successful conclusion of his official visit.
